Dr. Hsu (pronounced "shoe") is among only a handful of people in the United States to have been awarded the degree of Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (D.A.O.M.) from an institution accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) . He received his D.A.O.M. from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (P.C.O.M.) in San Diego. He also holds a Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine (M.S.T.O.M.) degree from P.C.O.M. in New York City.
Board certified as a Diplomate in Acupuncture and a Diplomate in Chinese Herbology, Dr. Hsu is among the first group of Americans to be a board certified Diplomate in Oriental Medicine from the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), the most advanced level of certification available. Dr. Hsu is certified by the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAOM) in Clean Needle Technique and he is state certified as a Licensed Acupuncturist in New York (NY). Dr. Hsu is also a graduate of New York University, College of Arts and Science in New York City.
During his Doctoral fellowship, Dr. Hsu performed his preceptorship in the Departments of Anesthesiology, Pain Management, Obstectrics and Gynecology, Surgery, and Orthopaedics at Bellevue Hospital Center and New York University Langone Medical Center in New York City.
Devoted to his passion for teaching, Dr. Hsu frequently teaches Traditional Chinese Medicine at acupuncture colleges and seminars. His native fluency in both English as well as in Chinese creates a unique environment for learning Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Sought for his expertise, Dr. Hsu was instrumental in helping to develop questions for the new national board certification examinations administerd by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
Dr. Hsu also is the Team Chair for the Accreditation Commission for Acupncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM). ACAOM is the national accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education to accredit programs in the acupuncture and Oriental medicine profession.
Dr. Hsu has been published in professional journals such as the American Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
While practicing in the Taipei City Hospital's Branch for Chinese Medicine, Dr. Hsu studied under numerous renowned doctors. He rotated through the departments of Internal Medicine, Gynecology, Dermatology, Traumatology, and Pediatrics. His focus was in Acupuncture and Herbal Pharmacology.
Dr. Hsu is a strong believer in using Traditional Chinese Medicine in coordination with Western Medicine to treat disease and to maintain wellness.
